Marshall DSL1 head

Leuk versterkertje. Beetje aan de prijs maar tweedehands goed te doen. Tweekanaals, met een speaker simulated output. Een enkele watt, maar dat is meer dan voldoende voor de meeste toepassingen. Gaat goed tegen een drummer in. Uiteraard is het een Marshall, en kan hij alleen Marshall-geluiden voortbrengen, maar dan wel de betere Marshall-geluiden.

Bassplaying with Lokohank. Perhaps for the last time. I have mounted a little camera on the headstock of my bass. It renders the bass out of balance which complicates playing. But the movie came out quite nice.

Changing tuners

Swapping stock Gibson Deluxe tuners to Grover Deluxe tuners on a Gibson SG. The difference can hardly be seen, but the quality of the Grovers is much better.

Nieuwe effectpedalen

Ibanez flanger FL301 en Providence Stampede... die Ibanez klinkt goed maar de voeding, een rare 18 volt exemplaar met een vreemde stekker, is niet meer verkrijgbaar, dus ik zit aan twee 9 volt batterijen vast.

Recording guitars for the new album by 'Fry the French'

Ro-Nalt, guitarist of  'Fry The French' is playing a Gretsch through a Fender amp, recorded by a SE R1 Ribbon mic and a Sennheiser E609 through a SPL preamp.. (also a DI using a Hughes & Kettner tube pre) The Ribbon goes through a Focusrite ISA220.

Rack opnieuw bedraden

Synthesizerrack wordt opnieuw bedraad, vanwege overgang van twee naar drie MOTU MTP's en van serial naar USB. Hopen dat dat geen latency gaat opleveren.

Steinberger snaren

Leuk, zo'n Hohner Steinberger koploze baspeddel, maar je moet er speciale snaren met ball-ends aan beide zijden voor hebben, die nogal aan de prijs zijn. Het is toch handig dat er online veilingsites zijn waar je ongebruikte snaren voor vijf euro kunt aanschaffen van mensen die zo'n peddel toch niet zo stoer vinden.....

Little jazz sequence

Jazz sequence in a progrock song.. still need to edit the video but I will do that when the song is completed. Song will be called 'Rocket' (I think) and features the amazing Louis van der Ende on Drums and probably an incredible trumpet solo by Henk Vroon. Perhaps Henk will do some guitar as well.

Brian Eastwood strat

Stratocaster, supposedly built by Brian Eastwood. (not the far-east company Eastwood but the British luthier of weird handbuilt guitars Brian Eastwood) The graphics are inspired by those on a car in a movie. ('The Fast and the Furious') I guess it is the lightest guitar I own. The guitar is slightly reliced, and not all that well made, but plays like butter in spite of its chunky neck. It was built as a prop in a videoclip, my wish is to make it a fully functional professional guitar. The pickup is made by Wilkinson but it does not sound too good, so I will swap it, and probably add a coilswitch to obtain more tonal variety. The body still needs to be clearcoated.
When I got the guitar, the pickup was not even connected. Since the body has no shielding at all (although the strings are grounded) it produces a buzz like a swarm of bees when connected to an amplifier. Obviously I will give it a proper shielding. I still have some copper foil left from other projects.

Happy Couple

Ibanez USA Custom gitaar en bas.. met een soort luipaardvel. Eigenlijk is de gitaar een RG760 uit Japanse onderdelen met DiMarzio's, die in de Custom Shop in Los Angeles in elkaar is gezet voor een klant. De bas is passief, en klinkt goed. Ik heb geen idee welke elementen er in zitten.

Versterkers op het toneel bij de Aristocrats, vooraan staat een Suhr Badger voor het voorprogamma (Godsticks) en waarschijnlijk de reservebak van Guthrie Govan, daarachter de Victory versterker van Guthrie zelf, ontworpen door Martin Kidd, die voorheen de versterkers ontwierp voor Paul Cornford. (daar heb ik er een van)
Mooi spul.

New Mixer

Smaller, and probably not as good as the big one. The big mixer sported balanced transformer inputs, BurrBrown opamps and Penny&Giles faders.  This one has none of that. But it has a nice meter bridge and DBX gate and limiters on the first eight channels.
The little one will do, while the big one is being serviced, probably by me, so it will take a while.
